Description
Hybrid solar pool pump 900 W – 20 m³/h (solar + mains) — A hybrid solar pool pump for circulating pool water through your existing filtration circuit. The matched AC/DC controller accepts photovoltaic power and a mains input, so mains electricity can support filtration when solar production is too low; check the supplied controller settings. The headline 20 m³/h is the maximum flow at very low head; 19 m is the maximum head at zero flow. They are separate end points of the performance curve.
Why choose this version?
Solar filtration with mains support when daylight fades
The controller accepts both PV and mains inputs, allowing the filtration schedule to be supported during dull weather when the system is correctly connected and set up. Check the supplied operating modes rather than assuming a particular switch threshold or timed programme.
A 50 m³ pool calls for 12.5 m³/h through the filter in four hours; the pump’s illustrative reading is about 13 m³/h at 8 m head. The mains supply can support the necessary running time when PV alone falls short.
Pool circulation
The clear-lid pre-filter can be inspected and cleaned before debris reaches the pump. Size your sand or cartridge filter for the operating flow.
Solar generation
The panel count is an example of the required array power. A wattage alone never proves electrical compatibility.
Hydraulics
Match the 2″ / 2″ connections and the actual flow to pipes, valves, filter and any heater or chlorinator.

Performance curve: flow changes with head
The supplied catalogue curve has been redrawn for this hydraulic family. Pump flow falls when the filtration circuit adds resistance. The highlighted point at 8 m of total dynamic head is a graphical approximation, not a guaranteed flow rate for your pool.

Which pool volume can this pump serve?
A useful starting point is to circulate the pool volume in 4–6 hours: divide the volume by the chosen period to find the target flow through the filter. For a 50 m³ pool and four hours, the target is 12.5 m³/h at the filter. At 8 m head, this model’s approximate curve reading is 13 m³/h under favourable conditions.
| Catalogue maximum at almost no head | 20 m³/h; this is not the flow through your filter. |
|---|---|
| Indicative point at 8 m head | Approximately 13 m³/h; verify on the installation. |
| Theoretical circulation in 4 hours | About 52 m³ at that operating point. |
| Theoretical circulation in 6 hours | About 78 m³ at that operating point. |
This table is a preliminary sizing aid, not a guarantee of daily filtration. Check the rated flow of the filter, skimmers, heater and chlorinator. A solar-only pump cannot be assumed to receive four hours of full sunshine every day.
Solar panels and electrical supply
Minimum array rating: at least 1,200 Wp. One practical power example is 3 × 450 W panels in series. Confirm the actual module data sheets: combined Vmp must suit the 80–400 V input during operation, combined Voc corrected for the coldest local conditions must stay strictly below 420 V, and module current must suit the supplied controller. Panels with the same watt rating may have very different voltages.
The hybrid controller accepts 80–400 V DC from the PV array and 110–240 V AC AC; domestic 230 V is within that AC range. It can use mains power when solar output is inadequate, according to its settings and the supplied manual. The electrical installer must keep the PV and mains inputs distinct.
How the solar-pool system connects

Plan the filtration circuit
- Measure pool volume, target run time, pipe diameter, filter rating and actual head losses; locate the operating point on the curve.
- Position the surface pump on a stable base close to the suction line. Keep access to the clear pre-filter lid for cleaning and prime according to the supplied instructions.
- Connect the pump to the filter and return line in the proper flow direction. Do not exceed the filter’s rated flow or presume a specific self-priming lift that is not documented on the French listing.
- Have the PV array, DC isolator and protection, controller and any mains input installed according to the supplied manuals. Measure the actual flow through the filter after commissioning.
Questions before ordering
Will it deliver 20 m³/h through my filter?
No fixed filter flow can be promised from Qmax. At an illustrative 8 m total head the curve suggests around 13 m³/h; your pipework, filter and sunlight change the operating point.
What pool size is this model for?
A preliminary 50–80 m³ at the 8 m-head example and 4–6 hours of theoretical turnover. Confirm the actual filter flow and available operating hours.
How many solar panels are required?
At least 1,200 Wp is specified. 3 × 450 W panels in series illustrates the wattage, subject to Vmp, cold-weather Voc and controller-current checks. Panels are sold separately.
What comes with the pump?
The Flocea pump and the matching hybrid AC/DC controller are included. Solar panels are sold separately; other installation parts depend on your site.
Can I keep my current pool filter?
Only if its rated flow, pipe connections and any associated equipment match the pump’s real operating flow. An undersized filter can create excessive pressure losses.
Is this pump self-priming?
The existing French listing does not specify a certified self-priming lift. Follow the supplied priming instructions and confirm the installation height before ordering.
What happens when the sun is weak or at night?
The hybrid model has an AC mains input in addition to the PV input. The controller can support circulation using mains power when correctly connected and configured; review its operating modes in the supplied manual.
Can I plug it directly into a balcony solar system?
A conventional microinverter AC output is not the DC PV input. The solar-only version requires a matching DC array and controller. On the hybrid version, mains wiring and the dedicated PV input must be assessed separately.
