Description
For very large irrigation needs (pivots, large sprinkler areas, fast pond filling), this 8-inch solar powered irrigation pump delivers up to 160 m³/h from a large-diameter borehole. We size it for your farm.
Which projects is it for?
Field crops
Centre-pivot, travelling gun or sprinkler irrigation over large areas.
Pond filling
Quickly fill a reservoir or storage pond during the sunny hours.
Shared network
Supply an irrigation network shared between several fields or farms.

Solar first, mains as back-up
Hybrid AC/DC controller
The panels run the pump during the day; an alternative source (mains or generator, depending on the version) can take over at night or in cloudy weather.
Stainless steel borehole pump
Stainless steel pump end and motor, designed to run submerged in a 8-inch borehole.
One configuration per project
2 configurations from 15–22 kW: we select the flow / head pairing that suits your borehole, not an off-the-shelf model.
Available configurations
| Max. flow | Max. head | Power | Outlet | Indicative solar array |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 150 m³/h | 77 m | 15 kW | 5″ | 39 × 580 Wp (22.6 kWp) |
| 160 m³/h | 100 m | 22 kW | 5″ | 52 × 580 Wp (30.2 kWp) |

Sizing your project
To propose the right configuration, we need:
- the depth and inside diameter of the borehole;
- the static level and above all the dynamic water level while pumping;
- the borehole yield (pumping test if available);
- your water need: m³ per day, irrigation season, type of crop or herd;
- the height difference and distance to the delivery point, and the pressure needed (drip, sprinklers, pivot);
- the power available on site (mains, generator) and the area available for panels.

The total head must exceed H1 + H2 + 10% of the pipe length, plus 10 m per bar of pressure needed at the outlet. Example: dynamic level at 45 m, reservoir 10 m above the borehole head, 300 m of pipe and 1 bar for drip irrigation → total head ≈ 45 + 10 + 30 + 10 = 95 m. We then select a configuration whose curve delivers at least the required flow at that head.
The solar pumping system
The solar array is wired in one to four strings of 580 Wp panels, protected by a DC isolator, up to the AC/DC controller at the surface. The controller drives the submersible pump and, depending on the version, accepts an alternative back-up source. Water goes to a reservoir, a flexible water tank or straight into the irrigation network.

What the quotation includes
- operating point study: flow, total head and pump configuration;
- the stainless steel submersible pump and its AC/DC controller;
- the solar array: number of panels, string wiring and protection;
- submersible cable, rising main and accessories suited to your borehole;
- lead times, transport and delivery terms for your project.
Frequently asked questions
Can it pump at night or in cloudy weather?
Yes with the AC/DC controller: without sun, it can be supplied from the mains or a generator, depending on the version. Otherwise, store the water pumped during the day in a reservoir or flexible tank.
What borehole diameter do I need?
A borehole with an inside diameter of at least 8 inches (200 mm), with room for the cable and rising main.
How many solar panels are needed?
39 to 52 panels of 580 Wp depending on the model, i.e. 22.6 to 30.2 kWp. The exact number depends on motor power and site sunshine; it is confirmed in the quotation.
Is the maximum flow guaranteed?
No. Maximum flow and maximum head are the two ends of the curve. Actual flow depends on your total head and sunshine: that is what we calculate when sizing.
What information should I send for a quotation?
Borehole depth and diameter, water levels, borehole yield, need in m³ per day, height difference, distance and required pressure, and the power available on site.
