Description
A deep borehole and a moderate water need for a remote house or livestock? The Flocea 3″ 600 W solar submersible pump is designed to lift water from far down, up to 105 m of total head. It fits boreholes from 100 mm in diameter and pushes water up from the bottom. Two photovoltaic panels of about 500 Wp power its MPPT controller, which drives the pump with the sun and protects it against dry running.
What is it for?
Remote house or site
Fill an elevated tank that then supplies the building, far from the grid.
Livestock watering
Supply a reservoir or trough in the pasture from a deep borehole.
Water storage
Fill a tank with the sun so that water is available at any time.

What makes the difference
MPPT controller included
It gets the best from the panels between 60–90 V and starts the pump as soon as there is enough sunlight.
Dry-run protection
Built into the controller: the pump stops if the borehole level drops too far, with no extra probe.
Cable at the right length
Order the 4 mm² cable that matches the depth of your borehole, with bare copper ends for the controller terminals.

What flow at your depth?
A submersible pump pushes water upwards: the greater the total dynamic head (TDH), the lower the flow. TDH = H1 + H2 + 10% × L, where H1 is the depth of the water level while pumping, H2 the height of the outlet above ground and L the total pipe length.

Example: water 55 m below ground while pumping, outlet 5 m above ground, 120 m of pipe: TDH ≈ 55 + 5 + 12 ≈ 72 m. The pump then delivers about 1 m³/h in full sun.
| Head | Indicative flow |
|---|---|
| 40 m | ≈ 1.6 m³/h |
| 60 m | ≈ 1.3 m³/h |
| 70 m | ≈ 1.1 m³/h |
| 80 m | ≈ 0.79 m³/h |
| 90 m | ≈ 0.5 m³/h |

How many solar panels?
The controller works best between 60 and 90 V and accepts no more than 110 V open circuit. The simplest set-up: two identical panels of about 500 Wp connected in series. Check these values on the label of each panel:
| Power (Pmax) | 450 to 550 Wp per panel |
|---|---|
| Maximum power voltage (Vmp) | 35 to 44 V: in series, 70 to 88 V |
| Open-circuit voltage (Voc) | 46 V maximum: in series ≤ 92 V, about 104 V at −20 °C |
| Short-circuit current (Isc) | 18 A maximum |

Which cable length should I choose?
The pump comes with 2 m of original cable. Choose the total length: installation depth of the pump + distance to the controller + 1 to 2 m of margin, rounded up to the next ten. The supplied cable is 4 mm² whatever the length, sized to limit losses up to 100 m.

A 4 mm² cable for every length
The minimum cross-section is 2 mm² up to 30 m, 2.5 mm² up to 50 m and 4 mm² up to 100 m between the controller and the pump. The supplied cable is 4 mm² whatever the length you choose.
| Maximum length | Minimum cross-section |
|---|---|
| ≤ 30 m | 2 mm² |
| ≤ 50 m | 2.5 mm² |
| ≤ 100 m | 4 mm² |
Installation in 5 steps
- Check the inner diameter of the borehole (100 mm minimum), its depth and the pumping water level given by the driller.
- Connect the delivery pipe to the 1¼″ outlet and hang the pump from a stainless steel rope, never from the cable or the pipe.
- Lower the pump at least 1 to 2 m below the lowest water level, without resting it on the bottom of the borehole.
- Mount the controller in the shade near the borehole head, then connect the pump and the panels with a DC breaker.
- Switch on in the sun and check the flow; store the water in a tank to use it at any time.
Frequently asked questions
What borehole diameter is needed?
The pump is 3 inches, about 76 mm. A borehole with an inner diameter of at least 100 mm is recommended so that the pump, cable and pipe pass without rubbing.
How much water per day?
It depends on the head and on sunlight. For example, at 70 m head the pump delivers about 1.1 m³/h in full sun. Store the water in a tank to use it whenever you want.
Do I need a battery?
No. The pump runs with the sun and stops at night: storing water is simpler and cheaper than storing electricity.
Is the pump protected if the borehole runs dry?
Yes. Dry-run protection is built into the controller: the pump stops if the water level drops too low.
Are the panels included?
No. Plan two identical panels of about 500 Wp in series: Pmax 450–550 Wp, Vmp 35–44 V, Voc ≤ 46 V, Isc ≤ 18 A.
What is the cross-section of the supplied cable?
4 mm², whatever the length, sized to limit losses up to 100 m between the controller and the pump.
What is the lead time?
Allow 3 to 4 weeks after your order, depending on the cable length chosen.
