Water and liquid storage

Choosing a storage solution to suit the ground and the use

Pillow tanks, galvanised steel tanks and bespoke builds: Flocea helps you compare the technologies, the volumes and the connections before you buy.

Choosing by what you need to store

Every liquid brings its own demands in terms of compatibility, safety and upkeep.

Pillow tank or steel tank: what decides it

Criterion Pillow tank Galvanised steel tank
Siting Low profile, a prepared level surface, quick to install A circular footprint, suitable foundations and a structured build
Capacity A wide choice of volumes and dimensions Particularly suited to large permanent reserves
Site access Components that can be carried in before deployment Access needed for the components and the build
Adaptability over time Can be added to or moved, depending on the installation A fixed solution designed to stay put
Validation Liquid, membrane, dimensions, connections and base Ground, volume, structure, liner, cover and connections

The four things needed to size a tank

The liquid

Raw water, drinking water, effluent, fertiliser or hydrocarbon determines which materials will do.

Volume and autonomy

Consumption, inflow, how often it is refilled and a safety margin give the usable capacity.

Available ground

Length, width, slope, load-bearing capacity, access and neighbours shape the tank.

Connections

Diameters, pump flow, overflow, drain-down and regulatory obligations complete the picture.

Getting the sizing right saves expensive rework

Tell us the liquid, the volume, the location and the connections you expect. Flocea points you to the right technology before quoting.

Frequently asked questions

What tank volume should I choose?

You need to bring together daily or seasonal demand, the inflow available and the autonomy you want. Nominal volume is no substitute for that calculation.

Can any liquid be stored?

No. The membrane, the liner, the seals and the connections all have to suit the liquid, its temperature and how long it will be stored.

Can a pillow tank be left outdoors?

Yes, provided it is designed for that and laid on a base that is level, stable, clean and protected against puncture.

When does bespoke make sense?

As soon as the space, the liquid, the connections or the regulations fall outside a standard configuration.

The main Flocea storage solutions

The right tank depends less on capacity alone than on the liquid stored, the space available, how often it is used and the installation constraints.
